Job Description

The Software Engineer – is responsible for the development and support of applications and systems for the Corporate Systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in enterprise wide development using Microsoft’s technologies, including Visual Studio 2005/2008, .Net, C#, and SQL. The individual participates in all phases of the software implementation process including both package and custom development. Software development processes include requirements gathering and analysis, functional design, technical design, coding, testing, implementation, and post implementation support & maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

• Develop solutions in WPF, C#, WCF, SOA, SQL, and other database technologies for the Corporate systems.
• Follow defined and de facto development standards.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Provide technical mentoring to other development staff.
• Ensure assigned technical tasks are being delivered on time and with quality.
• Provide production support of Corporate systems and all related ancillary programs.
• Support the entire product development lifecycle including requirements gathering and analysis, functional design, technical design, coding, testing, implementation, and post implementation support & maintenance.
• Analyze, design, and implement robust, maintainable solutions that meet the established business requirements utilizing creative thinking and problem solving skills.
• Develop and maintain technical and project documentation.
• Develop test plans and work with the QA team to establish quality test processes.
• Follow current development trends and provide recommendations for new development strategies and tools.
• Make suggestions to management on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability, and reduce administration time for GameStop store information systems.
• Other development duties which may be necessary to fulfill optimum efficiency of the position.

Required Skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

• Proficient or expert knowledge on related technical skill sets and technologies including but not limited to .NET framework 2.0/3.0/3.5, C#, ASP.NET, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, Visio, REST, XSLT, SQL Server, and Agile Development Methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents (Architecture, Configuration Management, Quality Assurance, Business Analysts, Other Development Teams, Business Customers)
• Working knowledge of effective problem solving and identifying innovative solutions, including new products
• Proficient analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate existing or proposed new solutions for potential flaws or improvement opportunities – including alignment to departmental goals and standards
• Working ability to navigate complex environments and work with interdisciplinary teams and effectively communicate priorities, delivery expectations, risks and concerns to management
• Demonstrated solutions development ability, including innovative thinking, creative problem solving, and the ability to execute quickly while maintaining high quality expectations
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills using spoken English, including the ability to explain complex ideas to others with varying levels of expertise throughout the organization and with potential business partners
• Proficient organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple, overlapping, and potentially conflicting priorities
• Proficient ability to remain highly effective under stress, and respond to pressure in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
• Proficient knowledge of services design patterns, principles, and practices
• Proficient experience working with developing and supporting scalable services technologies with strict SLA’s and high throughput
• Consistently demonstrates a commitment to GameStop policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest and ethical responsibilities

Required Experience

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering or related academic discipline required
• At least 5 years of experience in Microsoft development languages, coupled with a strong emphasis on object-oriented design and implementation
• At least 3 years of experience in developing enterprise level solutions, SQL and database technology exposure
• At least 1 year of Team Foundation Service experience preferred
